Yesterday I've had the opportunity to see and hear Dr Jai Prakash Narayan at the Lok Satta Party office, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad. I was deeply impressed by his and the party's idealogies and functioning. I am just trying to bring some highlights.
Dr JP is of the view that their generation was fortunate enough to get numerous opportunities even during adversities and people who had commitment and courage embraced them and grew. The situation is not likely to be the same for the coming generation. Politicians in power are spending money in the most irresponsible manner possible and making the poor become slaves. We have not been able to generate jobs irrespective of plethora opportunities around the globe. The golden period is coming to an end and we failed to capitalize on this golden opportunity. It is hay time we think about the future and elect responsible leaders to lead the nation. Almost all know what “Lok Satta” is and what it stands for. But everyone thinks that a vote casted to LSP is a vote wasted since in any case the party is not going to come to power. JP viewed it as the most absurd rationale for not casting a vote to an honest party. He was at his satirical best when he threw a tart at the media saying when they cover the elections they use the terms as “the candidate testing his fate from a particular constituency” whereas the fate of thousands and millions of voters is actually at stake. DR JP expressed his confidence by saying that Lok Satta Party is on the verge of creating a miracle in the forth coming elections.
One of the members present at the meet came upto the dais and stated that a film hero charges Rs 8 crore to act in a movie and the money is ours. There is a real hero in front of us and we are shying away from contributing towards a real cause. A member from Vizag contributed an amount of Rs 1 Lakh and many emptied their respective pockets.
For me I shed all my inhibitions of going to a meet without invitation and came back with loads of satisfaction of having met a genuine and trust worthy politician. You can do your bit by giving contributions and/or making realize your friends and relatives of the party ideology and make them vote for LSP. If you have limitations doing this, just go and cast your vote to Lok Satta without fail. I guess, this is the least one could do if one wants a change. It is in the best interests of all of us and our offspring that we bring genuine politicians lead the country and make them accountable. If you feel you can do a further bit, just pass on this message to all friends in your address book and make them realize the value of their vote. If you are not doing this, you have no right to curse the system for the current state of affairs.
