It happened twice with me in the last one month. A traffic police inspector fined me Rs 500 for cell phone driving. My heart pained the most, since I saved that money for buying a trouser for my kid. I can easily afford another 1000 but I was thinking of a person who doesnt earn Rs 500 per day. The inspector was not willing to listen to me. He has his own compulsions, there are targets set for his team. But then I was thinking where will this money go? Is it really spent on the purpose for which it is collected or will it go to fill the pockets of the ministers and everybody else in the hierarchy to make good the election expenses.
If only the govt had not promised free electricity, if only the govt had not promised the free healthcare in the ultra cost private hospitals, if only the govt had not announced the farm loan waiver, my Rs 500 are saved (or a couple of days' income for many). If only the money collected from us for all these years were spent properly, let alone the $ 1.5 trillion lying idle in Swiss banks, I presume the above mentioned so called welfare schemes were not at all necessary. India would have been a much better and safer place to live in, had there been some trustworthy politicians at different levels. I dont blame the parties which give tickets to the rich, wealthy and powerful candidates because they are the ones who can win elections since we dont vote to genuine individuals because we all think that they would in any case are not going win. And the cycle continues. The more number of votes that a genuine and trustworthy contestant derives, the more will be the inclination of political parties to field good leaders. It is not they who control the system. It all originates from us, the people of India, and it all affects us. THINK. We will all have to face the consequeces of the evil in some form or other, at some time or other and for our kids the consequences are going to be gravier. THINK AGAIN.
