Rahul - Tussi Great Ho!!!

Daring Shiv Sena in its stronghold is no mean task. He did it with such ease and dignity that I cant stop commending this guy for his demeanor. Even though I do not endorse dynasty politics, he really makes me rethink on the subject. He did nothing wrong since I started following him closely. Most of his actions are close to what all of us intend to do. Dining at a dalit's home to impromptu gestures like eating at small time eateries enroute, interaction with youth, talent hunt etc etc...

I feel his intents are clean and he is here to prove a point that he is as common as anybody else in this country is. Rahul Gandhi is all set to change the way youth views politics and politicians. His fan following is set to increase manifold from here on. The count begins with me.

Fatwa against VandeMataram - A blessing in disguise for BJP

For BJP, it surely is a lacklustre management. There couldnt be a better opportunity for BJP, which is losing its foothold in the Indian politics, of late, to ignite the religious fervor once again. When all the political parties are looking for opportunities to fragment the country on basis of caste, region and language, it makes abundant political sense for BJP to utilize this opportunity to maintain its identity. At the ground level, the reality is that Hindutva is its forte. It tried to be too nationalistic during the previous elections and it paid the price. If it really wants to regain the lost ground and get counted as a viable alternative to the Congress, this is once in a life time opportunity. DIVIDE and RULE.

I feel Cheated.

It happened twice with me in the last one month. A traffic police inspector fined me Rs 500 for cell phone driving. My heart pained the most, since I saved that money for buying a trouser for my kid. I can easily afford another 1000 but I was thinking of a person who doesnt earn Rs 500 per day. The inspector was not willing to listen to me. He has his own compulsions, there are targets set for his team. But then I was thinking where will this money go? Is it really spent on the purpose for which it is collected or will it go to fill the pockets of the ministers and everybody else in the hierarchy to make good the election expenses.

If only the govt had not promised free electricity, if only the govt had not promised the free healthcare in the ultra cost private hospitals, if only the govt had not announced the farm loan waiver, my Rs 500 are saved (or a couple of days' income for many). If only the money collected from us for all these years were spent properly, let alone the $ 1.5 trillion lying idle in Swiss banks, I presume the above mentioned so called welfare schemes were not at all necessary. India would have been a much better and safer place to live in, had there been some trustworthy politicians at different levels. I dont blame the parties which give tickets to the rich, wealthy and powerful candidates because they are the ones who can win elections since we dont vote to genuine individuals because we all think that they would in any case are not going win. And the cycle continues. The more number of votes that a genuine and trustworthy contestant derives, the more will be the inclination of political parties to field good leaders. It is not they who control the system. It all originates from us, the people of India, and it all affects us. THINK. We will all have to face the consequeces of the evil in some form or other, at some time or other and for our kids the consequences are going to be gravier. THINK AGAIN.

Secure your future. Vote for Lok Satta

Yesterday I've had the opportunity to see and hear Dr Jai Prakash Narayan at the Lok Satta Party office, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad. I was deeply impressed by his and the party's idealogies and functioning. I am just trying to bring some highlights.

Dr JP is of the view that their generation was fortunate enough to get numerous opportunities even during adversities and people who had commitment and courage embraced them and grew. The situation is not likely to be the same for the coming generation. Politicians in power are spending money in the most irresponsible manner possible and making the poor become slaves. We have not been able to generate jobs irrespective of plethora opportunities around the globe. The golden period is coming to an end and we failed to capitalize on this golden opportunity. It is hay time we think about the future and elect responsible leaders to lead the nation. Almost all know what “Lok Satta” is and what it stands for. But everyone thinks that a vote casted to LSP is a vote wasted since in any case the party is not going to come to power. JP viewed it as the most absurd rationale for not casting a vote to an honest party. He was at his satirical best when he threw a tart at the media saying when they cover the elections they use the terms as “the candidate testing his fate from a particular constituency” whereas the fate of thousands and millions of voters is actually at stake. DR JP expressed his confidence by saying that Lok Satta Party is on the verge of creating a miracle in the forth coming elections.

One of the members present at the meet came upto the dais and stated that a film hero charges Rs 8 crore to act in a movie and the money is ours. There is a real hero in front of us and we are shying away from contributing towards a real cause. A member from Vizag contributed an amount of Rs 1 Lakh and many emptied their respective pockets.

For me I shed all my inhibitions of going to a meet without invitation and came back with loads of satisfaction of having met a genuine and trust worthy politician. You can do your bit by giving contributions and/or making realize your friends and relatives of the party ideology and make them vote for LSP. If you have limitations doing this, just go and cast your vote to Lok Satta without fail. I guess, this is the least one could do if one wants a change. It is in the best interests of all of us and our offspring that we bring genuine politicians lead the country and make them accountable. If you feel you can do a further bit, just pass on this message to all friends in your address book and make them realize the value of their vote. If you are not doing this, you have no right to curse the system for the current state of affairs.

Some great words of Wisdom

-Smooth roads never make good Drivers, Still waters do not make good divers and clear sky never makes good pilots. Problem free life never makes a person strong. So dont ask "Why me?" say "Try me"
-Definition of Status : The money we spend which we dont have to buy things which we dont need to impress people we dont know.

Satyam Maytas Deal - Intents Malafide

It takes years to build reputation and a few weak moments to tarnish it. This is what has happened with Mr Ramalinga Raju. It is a blatant case of cheating and the management has a lot of answering to do now. Let us congratulate the Mutual Funds and other big investors for teaching him a lesson. CLB and Dept of Company Affairs should step in and bring the culprits to book. It is disheartening to notice that one of the big 4 accounting firms advised the company on valuations, which needs further probe. If stern action is not initiated against all those involved we might see the confidence of FIIs and big institutions fading away. It is high time that fraudsters realize there is no getting away from misdeeds. The day is not far away when the total board of Satyam is reconstituted in the best interest of the all the stake holders. Mr Raju, the money in the books is not your “Baap ka maal” that you can distribute to your sons. “Ab India me ye sab nahin chalta hai”. If throwing shoes is a proper way to vent ones anger, my shoes are for you Mr Raju. Count your days now.

Leveraging - The root cause for any crisis.

USA, the so-called role model for developed countries, is in the midst of a severe economic crisis. The magnitude of the crisis is such that it is hurting all countries across the globe one way or the other. We are going to feel the heat sooner or later, if not it being felt already.

I feel the root cause for the entire crisis is “Leveraging”. In fact, I feel that the root cause for any financial crisis is Leveraging. History proves it time and again, but many individuals as well as corporates cannot run away from this temptation for too long. I was wondering as to what would it have been, if there were no leveraging. One thing is for sure. The world wouldn’t have been as interesting a place to live in, as it is today.

Traders who resort to leveraging always get the feel that small traders are the ones who loose money in the markets and it goes on to fill the pockets of the biggies but the recent crisis has proved that none is above the markets. Bigger the pockets bigger the holes. Markets are supreme and anyone who tries to go over board and beat the markets is certain to get beaten. It is difficult to resist the temptation of leveraging and hence one must learn discipline and rules of the game ie.. entry and exit points. In case of the big bang investment banks, they certainly lacked the former. They were too aggressive and were trying to rule the markets. The extent of leveraging was such that even though they knew the exit point, there were no takers and the falls that ensued took everybody along. US was teaching lessons to the whole world but now it’s the time for it to learn. It surely completed a full circle.
